Dot is Escaping
A downloadable prototype
Overview
A challenging bytesized platformer with over 50 levels that will take twitch reflexes and puzzle solving. Some of the maps seem impossible but can be overcome with plenty of practice. Dot is ESCAPING is a platformer that features a touching story which dares to ask the question, “What does it mean to be alive?”.
Dot has been awoken by The Overseer to escape The Scramble and defeat The Designer, whom does everything in their power to stop Dot from escaping the ten worlds of The Scramble. Passing through each world reveals more of what’s happening to Dot and why he must succeed in his mission to escape The Scramble. Without any assurances that what he is doing will help anything, he proceeds anyway to get to the bottom of the mystery… what is Dot’s purpose?
“The story is the real catch with this title.”
Introduction
Dot has been awoken from what is stated as a long slumber. It wasn't safe to wake him up, until now. Upon awaking Dot is greeted by The Overseer and is told that him escaping The Scramble is the most important task that has ever existed. Dot is not even sure who he is, what he did before awaking or why escaping is his main purpose in life.
All Dot knows is that he must keep going and eventually escape. He feels compelled- like he has no choice- he wishes he did have a choice. With no sense of up or down, right or wrong, Dot must continue on his adventure and see it through 'til the end.
Gruesome Software
We’re a very tiny indie development team that are currently working prototypes with absolutely no commitment of a full release. To explain, our current plan is to develop prototypes until we find one that both the team and the community thinks we have something worth developing further.
We will keep development on that project for Windows only. This helps us focus on what’s most important: the internal mechanics and gameplay of the project.
Platforms
INITIAL PLATFORMS:
- Windows
FUTURE PLATFORMS:
- MacOS
- Linux (Ubuntu)
POTENTIAL PLATFORMS:
- Nintendo Switch
- Sony PS4
- Xbox One
During its development life cycle we will aim for the Windows platform (Windows 7/8/10) and nothing else. Once we feel the game is stable enough we'll release it on Steam. Afterwards we'll try porting it to MacOS first, followed by Linux (Ubuntu).
Once the game is in a "release" state we will begin porting it to consoles! We'll hopefully aim for a console-wide release date, where the game will release on all three major consoles at once (PS4/Xbox One/Nintendo Switch). However, in/external factors may change that. A console platforms development may take priority over the others due to possible higher return-of-investment or by which the in-game mechanics better match/more suited for some of the consoles over the others.
What we need from you
- Purchases! Of course! We need to invest money to hire a team to give it that professional polish.
- Provide critical feedback. Sometimes developers don't understand what they're doing is right or wrong. Your feedback can help guide this project from a flop to a runaway hit.
What you get
- The earliest access possible to the project!
- A steep discount versus buying it later after release.
- You'll also rest easy at night knowing you helped a tiny indie development studio get off the ground ;)
- A key for the game if it is ever officially published on Steam(R).
